STEPS TO YOUR NEW HOME

GEERTSMA HOMES

The Steps to Building your New Home with Geertsma

01

Know your Budget

Knowing how much you want to spend or can afford to spend on your new home is always the best place to start.

A Geertsma Sales Representative can help you find a mortgage broker so you can be pre-approved for a mortgage and find a home that is right for you.

02

Choose your Location

Before you even begin looking at new home plans it is important to know where you want to live.

Are you looking for a townhome, a detached home in the city or in the country, or are you ready to downsize to a condominium?

03

Pick A Plan

Choosing your new home plan can be time consuming. The Geertsma team has a variety of home plans to suit your needs.

04

Agreement of Purchase and Sale

Understanding the terms of purchase is important. Our Sales Representative will review this document with you and answer any questions or concerns you may have about the purchase of your new home. We understand that this is a large investment of your time and money and it is important to work with someone you can trust.

Our standard practice is for all agreements of purchase and sale to include a lawyer’s approval condition, which gives you the opportunity to bring the document to your lawyer for review.

05

Start-Up Meeting

Once you have a firm Agreement of Purchase and Sale with Geertsma Homes, your Project Manager will give you a call to set up your start up meeting. At this meeting you will review the working drawings for your new home and discuss any deadlines and decisions you need to make.

06

Selections

There will be two scheduled meetings in our new home design centre, the first is to make your exterior selections if applicable and the second is to make your interior selections.

07

On Site Framing Walkthrough

Once your new home has been framed you will meet with your Project Manager on site for a courtesy framing walkthrough.

08

Final Walk Through/ Pre-delivery Inspection

Prior to closing, you will meet with your Project Manager to view your new home and review not only the warranty coverage, but also new home maintenance and operating instructions for new home features. (ie. programmable thermostat, HRV controls, etc.)

09

Closing

After signing necessary documents at your lawyer’s office,  your Project Manager will contact you to meet you at your new home.

Your Project Manager will bring your keys and ensure your new home has been finished in accordance with our agreement.

10

Move-In

The time has come you are all ready to unpack and get settled into your new home.
